The Inclusive Economic Growth team is dedicated to working with our business community, new investors, partners, and wider stakeholders to support economic development and business growth in North Tyneside.
The team is looking to recruit an Inward Investment Officer who will work across the Local Authority and with regional partners to promote North Tyneside as a prime location for investment. The primary objective of the role is to attract and secure new investment and create jobs within the Borough.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Inward Investment Manager to provide a single point of contact for the Local Authority, proactively supporting investors exploring North Tyneside as a location for new operations, expansions, or consolidations. They will manage a pipeline of enquiries, generate new leads, and build strong, effective relationships with key businesses, stakeholders, and partners.
A key element of the role will be coordinating compelling investment propositions—bringing together information from various sources and presenting it in a clear, engaging, and market-facing format. Supporting the development of a strong investment environment through sector growth and infrastructure initiatives will also be central to the role.
It is an exciting time in North Tyneside, with significant opportunities emerging in the offshore and renewables sector along the River Tyne. Cobalt Park is a key node within the recently designated North East AI Growth Zone, creating new opportunities for the Borough. The team is also developing a new Economic Strategy that will set the direction for local growth, with inward investment playing a vital role in its delivery.
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, proactive, and positive, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. They will be confident in negotiating, influencing, and building strong professional relationships.
Strong presentation skills are essential, both verbal and visual (including reports, presentations, and slide decks). The candidate will have experience in inward investment or a similar role.
A working knowledge of the offshore and renewables sector and/or the AI industry would be desirable.

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan
In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council’s operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government’s net zero target of 2050.
We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can’t do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us. Together we can make North Tyneside a sustainable place to live and work for everyone in the borough.
