Job Introduction
East Durham College is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Engineering to deliver high‑quality, industry‑relevant teaching across Levels 1–4. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to learners’ futures while contributing to a forward‑thinking and supportive college environment.
You will plan, deliver, and assess engaging theory and practical sessions, supporting learners aged 14–19+ to develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed for employment or further study. You’ll also contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and employer engagement.

Deliver outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment across Engineering programmes

Prepare high‑quality teaching resources, assignments, and online learning materials

Assess and provide timely, constructive feedback to learners

Monitor learner progress, attendance, and achievement accurately

Provide academic and pastoral support, including information, advice, and guidance
-
Contribute to curriculum development, internal verification, and quality improvement

Engage with employers to support work experience and industry relevance
-
Maintain up‑to‑date industry knowledge through CPD

Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and a positive learning environment
Essential:
-
Minimum Level 6 qualification in Engineering (or related discipline)

GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
-
Teaching qualification at Level 6 or above (or willingness to work towards)

Assessor Award

Experience teaching Engineering to a broad range of learners

Strong communication skills and a professional, collaborative approach

Experience supporting learners with SEN

Knowledge of awarding body requirements and quality processes
