Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing project costs, preparing accurate estimates, and supporting the organisation’s budgeting and planning processes. This role requires a strong understanding of cost control measures and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications to deliver precise quotations. The ideal applicant will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

Analyse project plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to gather relevant data and clarify project requirements.
Develop accurate budgets by considering labour, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgets and identify potential overruns.
Implement cost control measures and recommend value engineering solutions where appropriate.
Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and present estimates in a clear, professional manner.
Maintain organised records of all estimates, revisions, and related documentation for future reference.
Assist in analysing past projects to improve estimation accuracy and optimise future cost control strategies.

Requirements

Strong understanding of cost control principles and techniques.
Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Proficiency in estimating software programmes and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents effectively.
Good communication skills to liaise confidently with clients, suppliers, and team members.
A recognised qualification in construction management, engineering, or related field is desirable but not essential.
Ability to work independently whilst managing multiple projects simultaneously.
