Goldvale Steel Fabrications Ltd is looking for a practical, reliable and hard-working Workshop Support Operative to join our steel fabrication team.
This is a hands-on workshop role supporting our fabricators and production team. The successful candidate will help keep work moving through the workshop by preparing materials, loading up fabricators, cutting haunches, punching angles, moving steel, cleaning down work, wire brushing, de-spattering and carrying out general workshop support duties.
This role would suit someone who is physically fit, willing to learn, comfortable working in a busy steel workshop, and happy to get stuck into whatever needs doing.
Main Duties
The role will include:
- Loading up fabricators with materials, fittings and job requirements.
- Cutting haunches and preparing steel components.
- Punching angles and assisting with basic material preparation.
- Moving steel, materials and finished items around the workshop.
- Cleaning, wire brushing, grinding and de-spattering steelwork.
- Keeping work areas clean, safe and organised.
- Supporting fabricators, welders and workshop management as required.
- Helping with general workshop labouring duties.
- Assisting with loading, unloading and material handling.
- Following health and safety procedures at all times.
- Working as part of the wider production team to keep jobs moving.

- Practical and hands-on.
- Able to follow instructions properly.
- Willing to learn and take feedback.
- Comfortable working in a steel fabrication or workshop environment.
- Safety-conscious and aware of their surroundings.
- A team player with a good attitude.
Previous experience in steelwork, fabrication, construction, manufacturing, workshop labouring, material handling, grinding or saw operation would be useful, but attitude and reliability are more important.
Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:
- Steel fabrication workshop work.
- Cutting, grinding or drilling steel.
- Punching angles or preparing steel sections.
- Forklift, overhead crane or slinging experience.
- Manual handling in a workshop or yard environment.
- Basic understanding of fabrication drawings or job sheets.
Training can be provided for the right person.
