The Hereford operation is the major UK production facility in PCC Metals & Forgings Division and we now have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager working a Continental Shift Pattern (Days/Nights) at the Hereford site.
This role has overall responsibility for Safety, Quality, Delivery/Throughput, Cost and People in the department. The role will take direction from the Manufacturing Manager on plant priorities to meet the targets for the departments in line with business needs. In addition, the role will be responsible for the identification of performance improvement plans, including Zero Harm, Zero Defects, Productivity and OEE.
Role Summary:
- Accountable for leading, motivating and engaging with Production Supervisors, Team Leaders and Production Operators through effective communication e.g. team briefings, regular interaction on the shop floor, involvement in Zero Harm and Zero Defects teams.
- Responsible for achieving throughput while meeting and exceeding productivity targets by reviewing and planning for daily, weekly, and quarterly labour and equipment, tooling and supply requirements.
- Establish priorities relating to plant requirements, communicating with supporting departments to ensure business needs are met.
- Lead the team in developing and implementing effective systems for improving internal and external quality, cost improvements and on-time delivery to the customer requirements.
- Accountable for daily analysis of variable labour costs, working with Production Supervisors and Team leaders to determine required staffing levels and support labour re-allocation across the plant as required.
- Carry out management responsibilities including recruiting, and training employees; planning, directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Accountable for flexibility of the workforce to address skills gaps and create an adaptable workforce and will be responsible for Training Needs Analysis for the team.
- Accountable for all aspects of HSE within the department, responsible for any accident investigations, incident reporting (including updating Gensuite) and risk assessments. Must continuously promote safe systems of work and ensure corrective actions are closed out in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Will have demonstrated Leadership within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience deploying department/business objectives into day to day plans and roll out and delegate to teams, able to clearly identify day to day priorities and create action plans to deliver.
- Able to work a Continental Shift Pattern (Days/ Nights).
- Exposure to a unionised environment beneficial.
- Demonstrable computer skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and deadlines and to prioritise work effectively.
