Your Role
As an IT Hardware Technician, you will primarily work within the Test & Audit department, where you’ll test, validate, and quality check a wide range of IT equipment including servers, workstations, switches, and storage arrays to ensure they meet customer specifications and company standards.
A key part of this role will involve hardware and component testing, including the validation and testing of large batches of components before they are stocked or deployed. Components tested may include RAM, HDDs, SSDs, graphics cards, PCI/PCIe cards, CPUs, and other enterprise hardware.
This is a fast-paced and hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and good communication skills. The successful candidate must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team.
We are looking for someone flexible and adaptable who is willing to support other departments and teams when required to meet business needs. Assisting across multiple operational areas will be an expected part of the role, offering variety and opportunities to broaden your technical experience and skill set..
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assembling computer systems, including workstations and servers
- Installing hardware components (CPUs, RAM, storage, etc.)
- Organising cables for optimal airflow and aesthetics
- Conducting quality control checks to meet company standards
- Test, update, and configure major brand Servers, and workstations with the latest operating systems and firmware
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and carry out minor repairs
- Stress test components and record data
- Stay updated with the latest hardware trends and technology
- Adhere to workplace safety, including safe handling of equipment and compliance with company policies
- Handle IT equipment (up to 25kg) and work on your feet for extended periods
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, or demonstrable experience gained through personal projects, passion, or hobby.
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently when needed
- Excellent IT knowledge to board level with a problem-solving mindset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in fast paced working environment
