Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and fully qualified Arborist Team Leader to join our operations team.

The Role
As an Arborist Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and supervising arboricultural teams in the safe, efficient and professional delivery of tree works. You will have day-to-day responsibility for site operations, task allocation, site safety, customer liaison and ensuring works are completed to specification and BS3998 recommendations.
You will be expected to lead by example, maintain high standards of workmanship and contribute positively to the development of junior staff and apprentices.
Works will include a mixture of domestic, commercial and local authority contracts across Surrey and London.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Duties
- Lead and supervise arboricultural teams on a daily basis.
- Plan and organise site operations efficiently.
- Allocate tasks according to team competency and qualifications.
- Carry out advanced climbing and dismantling operations safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all works are completed to specification and BS3998 recommendations.
- Monitor productivity and job progress throughout the working day.
- Ensure sites are left clean, safe and presentable upon completion.
- Liaise with management regarding progress, delays, access issues and variations.
- Manage site set-up, exclusion zones and traffic management requirements where necessary.
Health & Safety
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all operations.
- Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, PUWER, LOLER, Working at Height Regulations and company procedures.
- Deliver and participate in site-specific RAMS briefings.
- Conduct pre-use equipment inspections and defect reporting.
- Stop works immediately where unsafe conditions are identified.
- Ensure all team members follow safe systems of work and wear appropriate PPE.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead by example in safety, conduct, appearance and professionalism.
- Support, motivate and mentor junior staff and developing climbers.
- Foster a positive team culture and high-performance working environment.
- Address minor performance issues and escalate concerns where appropriate.
- Promote continual improvement and professional development throughout the team.
Customer Service
- Represent Woodvale Tree Care professionally at all times.
- Communicate confidently with clients, residents, stakeholders and members of the public.
- Ensure a high standard of customer satisfaction on every project.
- Identify additional work opportunities and communicate them to management.
Essential Requirements - NPTC (or Equivalent)
- Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting
- Small Tree Felling
- Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue
- Aerial Cutting Using a Chainsaw
- Rigging Operations
- Large Tree Felling (where applicable)
Additional Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Minimum 5 years arboricultural industry experience
- Proven experience leading arboricultural teams
- Strong understanding of BS3998 recommendations
- Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and make informed operational decisions
Desirable Qualifications
- Level 3 Arboriculture Qualification or equivalent
- MEWP Qualification
- First Aid +F
- Professional Tree Inspection Qualification
