Additional Salary Information: You will also be entitled to a retention payment of £4,000 per year based on 37hrs per week or pro rata for hours worked. This retention payment will be spilt into two payments, in December and June. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months employment and successful completion of your probationary period. About the Role
Join Kirklees Council and help create safe, high-quality places for people to live and work. As a Building Control Manager, you’ll lead a dedicated team delivering Building Regulations and public safety services, supporting communities and local businesses.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Building Control service across regulations and public safety
Deliver projects and services on time and within budget
Provide expert technical advice to senior leaders and elected members
Ensure compliance with Building Safety standards and legislation
Manage service budgets, income targets, and performance
Support and develop team members through clear leadership and supervision
Represent the council at local, regional, and national level (including LABC)
About You
Professional qualification (e.g. MRICS, CABE, IFE or equivalent)
Be a Registered Building Inspector (Class 3 or 4)
Significant experience in Building Control management
Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, fire safety, and health & safety
Experience managing complex or large-scale developments
Experience working within a political or public sector environment
Strong leadership and people management skills
Confident using IT systems and managing service data
