Job Overview
Shaftesbury Medical Centre is looking to recruit a dedicated Salaried GP for 4-6 sessions per week. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive medical care within a healthcare setting, ensuring high standards of patient care across diverse settings. This role offers an opportunity to utilise a broad range of clinical skills, including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management. The position is salaried, offering stability and the chance to contribute meaningfully to community health initiatives.
Responsibilities
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, duty GP, mother and baby checks, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, pathology results, paperwork and docman/correspondence in a timely fashion
- To be able to consult safely and competently in a variety of modes such as F2F, telephone, video or online.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards including using appropriate Read Codes
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice/ICB prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
- When required assist with private medical reports/examinations in contracted hours.
- When required assist with weekly ward round of Residential Care/Nursing Home.
Additional Role
- Participating in meeting and completing QOF targets.
- Participating and assisting with Prescribing Audits.
- Participating and assisting with Enhanced/LIS Services.
- When required Participate in Extended Hours Rota following mutual agreement
- Assisting with the supervision and support of Medical Students, GP Trainees, Physician Associate, ANP, Clinical Pharmacist.
- Any other reasonable role to support the Practice and Partners
