Over the past three years our DSEAR service has experienced strong growth through our established network of specialist engineers. As demand continues to grow, we are expanding our dedicated in-house capability.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Hazardous Area Engineer with exceptional technical credentials and the ambition to become one of the industry's leading specialists.

The Role
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality DSEAR and Hazardous Area Engineering assessments.
- Undertake Hazardous Area Classification for gas and dust atmospheres.
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports and documentation.
- Review equipment selection and identify potential ignition sources.
- Engage with clients to understand requirements and communicate findings.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering methodologies and standards.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team.
- Assist in the development of digital engineering tools and processes.

Essential Experience
Applicants should already possess excellent technical foundations including:
- Extensive practical experience delivering DSEAR and Hazardous Area Engineering projects.
- Demonstrable experience undertaking Hazardous Area Classification for gas and combustible dust atmospheres.
- Experience producing DSEAR Risk Assessments and Explosion Risk Assessments.
- Strong knowledge of DSEAR, ATEX and the BS EN IEC 60079 series.
- Experience reviewing equipment selection, ignition sources and hazardous area documentation.
- Experience working within process industries or other major hazard environments.
- Excellent technical report writing and client communication skills.
Highly Desirable Credentials
The successful candidate should already possess credentials that provide a credible pathway towards becoming a future Principal Hazardous Area Engineer.
Examples include:
- Degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Appropriate CompEx qualifications relevant to hazardous area design, verification and inspection.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or demonstrable progression towards professional registration.
- Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience gained within COMAH, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, hydrogen, oil & gas or similar high-hazard industries.
