Vacancy Information

Hourly rate of pay: £22.76 - £25.36

Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Thursday, 09:00-17:00
Friday, 09:00-16:00
Days of working are negotiable, starting and finishing times are flexible, and flexi time is applicable.
To start asap.

Please note while the post is suitable for Home working the nature of the role will require regular attendance at Council premises and initially will be based in John Muir House for the first 4-6 weeks.

We’re looking for a proactive HR Adviser to partner with managers across the organisation, tackling everything from complex employee relations to shaping policies and delivering practical solutions.

What you’ll do:

Advise on discipline, grievance, absence & performance
Support managers through challenging HR scenarios
Lead on policy development and best practice
Deliver training and help drive a positive workplace culture

What you’ll bring:

Strong HR generalist experience
Solid knowledge of employment law
Confidence to influence and support senior managers
Excellent communication and organisational skills

Home / Hybrid Working Consideration

Please Note:
All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. Where an application for home-working is supported, it will be subject to a satisfactory trial period. Employees will be expected to attend Council offices for the duration of induction, and be on site in East Lothian workplaces, as required. Employees with a hybrid working arrangement in place will be office based and able to work from home, with permission, on an ad hoc basis.

To provide HR support and advice to Business Managers in accordance with Council’s policies and legislation

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HND/SVQ4 level or equivalent and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience.

Evidence of a strong commitment to Continuous Professional Development.

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.

Level 1 Disclosure Clearance
This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the Public Sector Network. ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be required prior to commencement.
