Exciting Opportunity: Join a Transformative New Dietetic-Led Service in Wakefield!
Mid Yorkshire NHS Teaching Trust has secured new, permanent funding to launch an innovative, dietitian-led Off-FP10 service for both enteral (HEF) and oral nutritional support (ONS) across Wakefield. In close collaboration with the Wakefield Health and Care Partnership and the Integrated Care System (ICS), this forward-thinking service will ensure that all patients needing nutritional support are referred to, reviewed, and monitored by our expert dietetic team.
Designed to deliver timely, patient-centred care in the community, this new model promotes seamless intervention and aims to reduce health inequalities by improving access to dietetic servicesno matter where patients live.
Key Objectives of the Service:

End inappropriate ONS prescribing in alignment with NHS England guidance.

Provide early and effective dietetic intervention for those in need.

Deliver ongoing training and support to all care homes across Wakefield.
To support this exciting development, we are recruiting across multiple roles, including:

Qualified Dietitians

Dietetic Assistants
-
Administrative Team Members.
We’re currently seeking a dynamic Band 3 Dietetic Assistant.
What You’ll Be Doing: As part of a multidisciplinary team (Band 7s, Band 5s, Band 3s, and admin), you’ll support the implementation of this new service while managing your own clinical caseload. You will assist in the delivery specialist dietetic care across Wakefield, including patients’ homes and care home settings. Support may be provided through face-to-face visits, telehealth, and presentations to care home staff.
Location & Flexibility: Based in Wakefield Community, you may also need to attend meetings at hospital sites in Pinderfields, Dewsbury, or Pontefract, with flexible options for remote working.
Professional Development: We’re committed to your growth. Our department is deeply invested in CPD and clinical supervision. As a student placement site for Leeds Beckett University, you'll also play a role in A, B, and C level dietetic students.
What You’ll Need:

A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for home visits)

Willingness to work flexibly across locations

Experience of good customer or patient care

An interest in Nutrition and Dietetics

An enthusiasm to work as part of a team, to be respectful and a desire to learn and share learning
