Job Overview
Ward Recycling is seeking an experienced FLT Operator to operate a clamp forklift truck within our Ilkeston recycling facility. The role involves the safe and efficient handling, loading, and movement of baled recyclable waste onto shipping containers and curtain sider lorries, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a clamp FLT to handle and transport baled recyclable materials
- Load waste bales accurately and securely into shipping containers and curtain sider vehicles
- Carry out daily FLT safety checks and report defects or maintenance issues
- Ensure loads are stable, compliant, and meet transport requirements
- Work closely with site supervisors, weighbridge staff, and logistics teams
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working area
- Follow all health & safety, environmental, and site-specific procedures
- Support general yard operations as required
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience operating a clamp FLT
- Experience loading lorries and/or containers
- Good understanding of safe loading practices and site safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious attitude
Desirable:
- Experience within a recycling, waste, or industrial environment
- Familiarity with high-volume loading operations
Qualifications & Accreditation
- Valid external FLT licence (RTITB, ITSSAR, AITT, or equivalent) – preferred
- Clamp attachment certification – highly desirable
- Willingness to refresh or update training if required
