Zebra EM is seeking a PLC & SCADA Engineer to support the design, delivery, and commissioning of industrial automation systems across renewable energy and process-industry sites.
This role is offered as an initial 6-month contract, with an expected rate of £40–£60 per hour depending on experience and suitability.
The position is ideal for an engineer with hands-on experience in PLC programming and Ignition-based SCADA systems, who is keen to work on live operational plant and industrial digitalisation projects. You will work closely with the Chief Technical Officer, subcontractors, and client teams to deliver reliable, well-engineered automation solutions.
Duties
- Programming, testing, and fault-finding of PLC control systems for industrial processes
- Development, configuration, and deployment of Ignition-based SCADA systems
- Working with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Mitsubishi
- Supporting integration of field devices, instrumentation, and plant equipment
- Supporting FAT, SAT, commissioning, and on-site installation activities
- Assisting with system upgrades, optimisation, and ongoing support
- Working alongside internal teams and subcontractors to deliver projects to scope
- Producing and maintaining clear technical documentation
- Providing technical support to clients during and after project delivery
- Regional and occasional international travel to client sites
Requirements
- 2–3 years’ experience in PLC programming and/or SCADA systems
- Hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA preferred
- Experience with at least one PLC platform: Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Mitsubishi
- Basic understanding of industrial networks, control panels, and instrumentation
- Full, clean UK Driving Licence
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while taking direction from senior engineers
- Minimum of A-Levels or Apprenticeship in Electrical, Automation, or Control Engineering (or equivalent experience)
