Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our busy culinary team. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, ensuring smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for cleanliness, a positive attitude, and an interest in the hospitality industry. This position offers valuable experience in food preparation and kitchen operations within a dynamic setting.
Duties
- Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
- Supporting the cleaning of kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas to maintain a safe working environment
- Restocking supplies and ensuring all items are stored correctly and organised
- Assisting chefs and kitchen staff during busy service periods as needed
- Disposing of waste responsibly and ensuring recycling procedures are followed
- Helping with general organisational tasks to support smooth kitchen operations
Skills
- Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen environments is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and familiarity with restaurant or hotel settings is desirable
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- A proactive attitude with attention to detail in cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
- Experience in hospitality or serving roles can be beneficial but is not mandatory
