About the role
We are seeking a skilled Mobile Fitter to support our Asset and Technology Solutions business, working across multiple project sites. This is a site-based role where you will play a key part in maintaining and repairing a fleet of specialist construction plant, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and operating efficiently.
Reporting to the Service & Maintenance Manager, you will work closely with operational teams, site management, and suppliers to deliver high-quality maintenance and repair services. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across the UK, supporting critical construction operations.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out maintenance and repair activities on heavy plant and specialist equipment in line with company policies, safe systems of work and manufacturer requirements
- Diagnosing faults and undertaking effective repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency
- Conducting routine inspections and completing accurate reports in a timely manner
- Supporting the erection and dismantling of equipment on site as required
- Liaising with site teams, clients and suppliers to coordinate access and ensure repairs are completed efficiently
- Assisting or directing manufacturers’ technicians where specialist support is required
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times
- Participating in daily briefings and contributing to a strong safety culture
- Reporting any defects, safety concerns or incidents promptly through the appropriate channels
- Providing clear updates to management on equipment condition, progress of repairs and any issues impacting delivery
Who we're looking for
We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in plant maintenance and repair, ideally within a construction or infrastructure environment.
You will have:
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant or construction equipment
- Experience working on major construction or infrastructure projects
- A strong understanding of safe systems of work and health and safety requirements
- The ability to diagnose faults and interpret technical manuals
- Relevant qualifications in plant diagnostics and repair (e.g. CSCS or equivalent)
- IPAF certification (desirable)
- A full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel across multiple UK sites
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good planning and organisational abilities with a proactive approach to problem solving
- The ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively with stakeholders
