We are looking for a warm, professional and guest-focused Guest Relations Assistant to work alongside our Director of Guest Relations and wider hotel team. This role is perfect for someone who genuinely enjoys looking after people, thrives on creating memorable experiences and takes pride in delivering outstanding service every day.
About the Role
As Guest Relations Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable stay.
You will be responsible for welcoming guests, coordinating arrivals and departures, managing reception activities, sharing the fascinating history of Burgh Island and acting as a knowledgeable point of contact throughout each guest's visit.
This is far more than a traditional reception role. You'll be a visible ambassador for the hotel, helping to create the personalised and attentive service that keeps guests returning year after year.
Key Responsibilities

- Process payments, invoices and guest transactions accurately.
- Maintain guest information and reservations using hotel systems.
- Liaise closely with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance and Transport teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Ensure allergies, special requests and important guest information are communicated effectively across departments.
- Assist with hosting lunch and dinner services when required.
- Support guest satisfaction initiatives and collect valuable guest feedback.
What We're Looking For
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.
- Previous experience in hospitality, reception, guest services, customer service or a similar guest-facing role is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A warm, confident and professional manner.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently whilst also collaborating closely with colleagues.
- A proactive approach and willingness to go above and beyond for guests.
- Interest in learning and sharing the rich history and stories of Burgh Island.
- Confidence using IT systems and handling administrative tasks accurately.
Working Hours & Flexibility
- Permanent contract based on 24 hours per week across 3 days.
- Shifts scheduled on a rota basis.
- Weekends and bank holidays will form part of the working schedule.
- Flexibility to work additional hours during busy periods and to support business needs.
- Additional hours are paid at the standard hourly rate.
Important to Know
- Due to our remote island location, applicants should have reliable transport and be able to travel to and from the island independently.
- You must have the right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
- As a tidal island operation, occasional flexibility is required due to weather and access restrictions.
