Full job description

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Specialty Doctor in geriatric medicine on a full time basis for a fixed term of 12 months. The post will work into our Parkinsons services providing clinics as well as supporting our Elderly Assessment Units.

Support provision of trust’s geriatrics medicine service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues, with a specific aim to expand capacity within our Parkinsons and elderly assessment Units

Be committed to the training and support of junior medical staff, nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members within the Trust’s older people’s services.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick upon Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. The post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and the timing of sessions may change as the service develops. The postholder will be required to work flexibly across trust sites.

The Job Plan will typically include an average of 10 Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care duties.
