The role:
The predominant purpose of the Support Service Assistant role is to provide a quality domestic and catering services ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors. Please note within the Health centres it is a core cleaning service only.
You will be following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired infection (HAI_ Task Force Code of Practice)
There is the requirement to rotate around our clinical areas and all departments, Present an efficient, high quality service to patients and staff, follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas.
There is the requirement for you have a flexible approach to daily routine. There will be the use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions. You will use of mechanical cleaning equipment. You should inform Supervisor of requirements for work materials as required and check delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment. You will wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas of work. All necessary training will be offered to ensure your working environment is safe, and you are confident within your role.
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.
All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Key responsibilities:
- All aspects of cleaning ensuring cleaning work schedules are followed

Removal and disposal of waste
- Litter picking within 10m radius of buildings
- Curtain/Screen Hanging

Meal service tasks (including plating meals) as per departmental HACCP system

Record food, fridge and hot plate temperatures as per departmental HACCP system
- Dishwashing

Collect and distribute on site mail
- Collection and onward transmission of specimens and sharps boxes
