Applications are invited from self-motivated, enthusiastic and well organised individuals. We require 1 full time and 1 part time Radiographer Assistant.
The successful applicant would be expected to work alongside a dedicated Radiographic Team at Leeds General Infirmary.
The successful applicants are required to be flexible. Shifts will include working days, evenings, nights and weekends to deliver the 24/7 Radiology service.
Our team of Radiographer Assistants rotate through many busy x-ray departments including A&E, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Chest Clinic, Fluoroscopy and General X-Ray.
The Radiography Assistant role combines both patient care and admin tasks:
Patient care element involves assisting with X-Ray procedures in the department and on wards as well as providing patient support when required. Part of the role will be providing patient care and assistance to radiographers and doctors during fluoroscopy lists.
Reception duties include electronic booking of X-Ray requests, answering the telephone to receive ward requests / enquiries and passing on urgent X-Ray requests to Radiographic staff.
Level 2 qualification in a relevant health care related subject is required for the post. Previous NHS experience is not essential but is desirable. Full training will be given.
Principle duties and areas of responsibility:

To be aware and comply with systems of work, local rules and policies and procedures in accordance with current ionising radiation, Health and Safety/ COSHH regulations. (Refer to Section 5 of the Health and Safety manual).

Stock control assisting with ordering and checking delivery of all stock.

Escorting patients in and out of the examination room.

Assisting with moving and handling of those patients who are immobile in a manner that is safe for all concerned.

Reassuring and staying in attendance with difficult patients.

When necessary, attending to the patients personal hygiene requirements.

Providing patient care and assistance to Radiographers and Doctors during fluoroscopy lists whilst wearing lead equivalent personal protective equipment.

General help and assistance to the radiographer / radiologist throughout the patients examination, either in the department or on the wards.

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in examination and processing rooms and whilst cleaning equipment including mobiles to minimise spread of infection.

Clerical duties to include electronic booking of X-Ray requests, answering the telephone to receive ward requests / enquiries and passing on urgent X-Ray requests to Radiographic staff

To assist in training of other members of staff.

Input accurate data onto the computer system.
