About the role

Public Health Northamptonshire seek a Public Health Practitioner to work on the children and young people’s agenda. You will play a key part in improving the health of children and young people in Northamptonshire through prevention and health improvement approaches across the health and social care economy, and in supporting the implementation of evidence-based public health programmes/interventions to improve health and reduce health inequalities. A commitment to equity, inclusion, and co-production with families is essential.

This role is 0.6 WTE (22.2 hours per week) and is a 12-month fixed-term appointment.

What will you be doing?

This role will focus on partnership working across the system to improve the public health outcomes for children, young people and families, whilst reducing health inequalities.

The scope of this role includes:

Providing public health input to partnership actions to improve outcomes for children and young people with long-term conditions,
Supporting public health aspects of safeguarding agendas and SEND transformation,
Coordinating public health-led actions that support children, young people and families who need more support to thrive.

You will report to the Public Health Principal for Children and Young People and will work across the children’s portfolio to support the team and organisation in achieving the desired outcomes.

About you

We are looking for an experienced, passionate individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who works collaboratively with key stakeholders across a network of settings to influence stakeholders at all levels. Given the scope of the role, we are particularly interested in applications from experienced children’s nurses with community experience who are already working at a senior level, or who have transferable skills. Experience in leading service transformation or strategic commissioning would be an advantage.
