Site Security Officer
- Salary: £14.42 - £16.10 per hour
- Shifts: 12 hour days (5 on, 5 off, 4 on, 4 off)
- Hours: 6:45am-7pm & 6:45pm to 7am

Tungsten West plc is a mining development company focussed on the restarting of the world-class Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin mine located in South Devon, UK. The Company is the 100% owner of the previously producing Hemerdon mine, which is currently the 3rd largest tungsten resource in the world. With demand for strategic metals, including tungsten and tin, increasing rapidly due to their critical use in new technology, Tungsten West is focussed on meeting this demand by restarting production at Hemerdon in the next 12 months.
Join the team working on the mine re-start, being an integral member throughout the project re-build, commissioning/ramp-up and into production.
Job purpose:
As a Site Security Officer, you will play a key role in safeguarding our people, assets, and operations while supporting the Site Security Manager in developing a security function that will grow as the project progresses.
The position supports a seven day a week program requiring a shift-based rota covering seven days a week across both days a nights with 5 on, 5 off, 4 on, 4 off rotas (6:00am-6pm or 6:00pm-6am).
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment through proactive patrols, monitoring, and access control
- Verify credentials, issue permits/passes, and manage all entry/exit points
- Provide a professional, visible security presence for staff, contractors, and visitors
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols across buildings, gates, and perimeter areas in all weather conditions
- Operate surveillance systems and carry out inspections of site assets and equipment
- Respond effectively to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and accidents as part of the emergency response team
- Manage site traffic and vehicle movements, ensuring safe flow during busy periods
- Escort and transport authorised personnel and visitors using company vehicles
- Secure premises at shift changeovers, including locking/unlocking access points
- Deliver site inductions and issue access passes
- Conduct site and asset inspections to ensure compliance with security procedures
- Carry out drug and alcohol testing in line with company policy
- Work collaboratively with the wider security team to ensure consistent site protection
- Uphold professionalism, integrity, and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor licence (Minimum requirement)
- Previous experience working in a security role
- Full UK driving licence
- First Aid at Work qualification (not EFAW)
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft platforms
- Previous experience in a military, security or industrial environment would be desirable
