Head Veterinary Surgeon Wanted for a small independent practice in beautiful Wishaw.
We are an exciting young small group of vets with three clinics in Scotland, we are looking for Veterinary Surgeon to join our team; pay dependent on experience and responsibilities. The successful candidates will have a passion for animal care and a strong commitment to providing the best possible care for our patients.
We are offering permanent opportunities for a full time Head Veterinary Surgeon.
Our practices are purpose built and well equipped, offering varied surgical/medical caseload.
Your schedule will include a 1 in 3 Saturdays but no Out of Hours work.
The practice is located in Wishaw.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing and treating a wide range of animal health conditions.
- Performing surgeries and other procedures as required.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and their pets.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest veterinary technologies and techniques.
- Participating in continuous education and training programs to further develop your skills and knowledge.
- Be responsible and accountable for leading and managing the Veterinary team, including being
- involved in recruitment, development and absence.
- Assessing performance of the Veterinary team and implementing any improvement plans aswell as
- carrying out regular appraisals and ensuring regular follow up meetings throughout the year.
- Assist the Practice Manager, Head Nurse and Clinical Lead to ensure compliance with RCVS
- guidelines, clinical governance, health and safety, security, stock control (including the storage and
- use of Controlled Drugs).
- Ensure completion of CPD for every Veterinary Surgeon for the year.
- Assist with Clinical Audits of client's files.
- Assist the Practice Managerwith Client Complaints.
- Attend regular meetings with the Directors, Clinical Lead and Practice Manager.
- Recommend procedures in consults to be carried out on the day if appropriate and provide all clients
- with Gold Standard estimates.
- Assist with the Veterinary Rota for Wishaw and management of the Diary.
- Be responsible for the overall performance of the practice, identifying any areas for improvement
- Using the statistics held to look for opportunities and successful actions to drive the practice forward.
- Highlighting key areas the practice need to drive forward for practice viability.
- Manage stock to an acceptable level and recommend medication that may be a cheaper alternative
- for the practice and clients.
- Liase with the nursing team on orders of consumables and medication.
- Take on the role of GDP Advisor and/or Clinical Coach and/or Offical vet and/or RPS if the practice requires.
Requirements:
- A degree in veterinary medicine from a recognised university.
- Registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well in a team as well as independently.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
