BLACK MILK are looking for a talented Assistant Café Manager to help run all things related to our Northern Quarter Café. Please be aware this will be a hands on job where you lead by example.
You will help manage a team of 5-7 people in a 40 cover café.
This role is open to someone with experience of working within hospitality. Ideally we are looking for someone with previous supervisory or assistant manager experience who has a passion for desserts, ice cream, baking or coffee who can help guide the team towards excellence.
This position will be focused on supporting the management and ownership team in delivering BLACK MILK's sweet treat experience. You will support our experienced Head Baker in wowing our guests.
Duties include:
- Day to day café operations (opening/closing the venue).
- Shifts are about 8 hours between the hours of 10:00-22:00 Mon-Weds, 11:00-01:00 Thursday & Friday, 11:00-01:00 Saturday and 11:00-22:00 Sunday with some additional time for closedown or opening. You may work alone on quieter shifts
- Helping complete stock orders and stock control
- Supporting staff training and development
- Helping with rota management
- Quality control of all menu items
- Helping ensure high standards of food hygiene & food preparation are met with all documentation up to date
We specialise in luxury milkshakes, decadent pancake stacks, desserts & bakery items, coffee & ice cream with the menu expanding & changing regularly & you will need to be hands on.
This role will involve some basic cooking of pancakes as we make everything ourselves so you must be able to multi task, prioritise & lead from the front.
A strong understanding of customer service & knowledge of how to assist in the running of a busy café is a must for this role, we will train you on the rest.
You will be a key holder, helping with the opening & closing of the venue & must be confident in your approach & able to work well as part of the team.
All training in relation to our menu, cooking & baking methods & specifications will be given but a good knowledge of the food industry is required for all applicants.
Any qualifications in relation to food hygiene, personal licence or first aid would be advantageous.
We are open until midnight on a Saturday so you must be able to work late shifts and be confident to help close the venue.
We aim for the right candidate to start with us in the next week or two to begin training with the management team
Pay: £14.00-£14.50 per hour
