Job Description
Senior Fire Engineer – IEng HRB or CEng (HRB), SOCOTEC
To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Building and Real Estate Division. SOCOTEC's Fire Engineering and Safety teams provide an award-winning, flexible and forward-thinking approach, as well as a high level of technical capability, providing our clients with cost-effective and practical solutions for the full range of fire safety problems.
We're looking for a Senior Fire Engineer to deliver high-quality fire engineering consultancy to major clients with a specific focus on Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs), including:
- Leading and coordinating building safety case development, ensuring robust assessments and compliance with the Building Safety Act
- Preparing fire appraisal reports and Fire HAZID assessments to support safety case reports
- Reviewing fire safety strategies and associated mark-ups for HRB buildings
- Providing technical advisory input and undertaking site inspections during design, construction and remediation stages
Here at SOCOTEC, we deliver excellence to our customers by recruiting and retaining the very best industry talent. To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering with a postgraduate Fire Engineering qualification
- Working towards or achieved Incorporated HRB registration with the Engineering Council and full membership with the IFE
- At least four years' experience in fire safety engineering
- Strong technical competence in fire dynamics, evacuation, structural fire behaviour and passive/active systems
- In-depth knowledge of statutory guidance (ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, HTMs, BB100, BS 7974 series) and HRB legislation
Qualifications
To be a successful Senior Fire Engineer, you should be able to demonstrate:
- A degree and postgraduate qualification in fire engineering or a related discipline
- Full membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers and progress towards Chartership
- At least six years’ experience in fire safety engineering
Strong technical knowledge of fire engineering standards and guidance
