We are responsible for a range of specialist ground engineering works, including deep soil mixing, plastic cut-off walls, embankments, and load transfer platforms — all of which form essential enabling works for the main power station. Role Overview
The Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) systems for all geotechnical and piling works on SZC. The role ensures that construction activities are executed in full compliance with contractual, legal, technical, and company requirements, providing practical assurance that the specified quality standards are achieved.
The QA Engineer works in a team that acts as the project’s quality authority and is the primary liaison with the operations team, third party organisations and client regarding quality matters. Main Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Compliance
Identify and implement measures, controls, and procedures to ensure quality standards are met
Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan and associated documentation systems
Establish inspection & test plans (ITPs), quality records, and work procedures for geotechnical and piling activities
Ensure effective document control and traceability of all quality documentation
Study and interpret legal, contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements applicable to the works
Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and internal procedures
Site & Operational Support
Advise operations managers on quality risks and compliance obligations
Review and approve method statements; verify correct implementation on site
Monitor QC activities performed by site engineers and supervisors
Conduct direct inspections and testing where necessary to verify compliance
Provide ongoing guidance to engineers, supervisors, and site teams on quality expectations
Defects & Reporting
Monitor construction progress from a quality perspective
Identify non-conformances and lead corrective and preventive actions
Prepare and submit regular QC status reports to project management and client representatives Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
3–5 years of experience ideally in heavy civil construction, with geotechnical works
Experience managing quality systems on infrastructure or major projects
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of foundation construction methods and associated inspection/testing procedures
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems preferred
Experience with documentation, reporting, and compliance processes
Personal Attributes
Self-motivated, detail-focused, and capable of working independently
Excellent communicator; able to liaise with site teams, operations, and clients
Collaborative team player, adaptable in a fast-paced environment
Proactive problem-solver, able to identify and mitigate quality risks
