FlexiComms is seeking an experienced Structured Cabling engineer to join our delivery team. This is a hands-on role incorporating the installation, testing, and commissioning of structured cabling infrastructure and other active networking systems, primarily for commercial businesses across the UK
The successful candidate will ideally be an experienced technician capable of operating as part of an installation team or on their own, carrying out site surveys, ensuring installations meet high technical and quality standards, and accurately testing and documenting completed work.
Projects often involved delivering solutions within live environments and tight timeframes. As such, the role requires someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Due to the national nature of our clients projects, engineers must be prepared to travel and stay away from home when required, and night shifts may be required depending on project schedules.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Installation of copper and fibre optic structured cabling systems and associated infrastructure.
- Termination of copper and fibre optic data cabling including up to Cat 6A to patch panels, modules and cabinets to industry standards.
- Carrying out site surveys and providing feedback on installation requirements and potential challenges.
- Testing and certification of installed cabling using cable analysers (e.g. Fluke or equivalent).
- Ensuring all installations meet industry standards and FlexiComms quality expectations.
- Producing accurate documentation and test reports following installation.
- Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and within project timescales.
- Maintaining high standards of attention to detail, organisation and professionalism while representing FlexiComms on customer sites.
- Working collaboratively with project managers and other engineers to deliver successful project outcome
Work experience / Personality requirements:
- Proven experience installing copper and fibre optic structured cabling systems in commercial environments.
- Experience with cable testing and certification using recognised cable analysers.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling installation standards and best practices.
- Willingness and ability to travel and stay away from home when required.
- Ability to work night shifts where project schedules demand it.
Beneficial skills / experience:
- Experience delivering structured cabling installations in the commercial and new build environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing site conditions.
- Familiarity with project documentation, site reporting, and installation records.
- Experience of working with Excel Cabling System or other manufacturers.
- Additional Health & Safety certifications, such as PASMA, IPAF, Working at Height training, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness etc
Education/Training requirements:
- ECS Card (or equivalent) – Mandatory
- DBS (or enhanced DBS) – Optional but preferred
- Additional relevant technical training or manufacturer certifications will be considered an advantage
