Summary
You'll take day-to-day ownership of our Microsoft 365 environment — including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune and Entra ID — while acting as the escalation point for our 1st Line support team and owning complex tickets through to resolution. Alongside this, you'll support the operational controls behind our Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001 programmes, maintain clear internal documentation and runbooks, and serve as our in-house functional contact for ERP, working closely with business super-users and our external partner. It's a broad, hands-on role for someone who's equally comfortable in the detail of an endpoint policy as they are mentoring junior colleagues or improving a process.
Responsibilities
Microsoft 365, Entra ID and endpoints
- Help administer the Microsoft 365 tenant day-to-day: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and the Microsoft Defender suite.
- Help administer Entra ID (Azure AD): user lifecycle, groups, conditional access, MFA, application registrations and SSO onboarding for new SaaS tools.
- Help to manage the Intune estate: device enrolment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, Windows and macOS endpoint baselines, app deployment and updates.
- Help to manage the SharePoint information architecture and security-group model in partnership with the business as more data moves off legacy file shares.
- Help to maintain the Snipe-IT asset register and keep hardware, software and licence records accurate and reconciled with Intune and Entra.
Service, support and the wider team
- Act as the escalation point for the two 1st Line IT Support Technicians; mentor them informally and help with continuing to raise the technical level of the team.
- Pick up complex 2nd/3rd line tickets in ITSM and own them through to resolution and documentation.
- Maintain clear, useful internal documentation — runbooks, how-tos and the IT knowledge base — so support is repeatable and the team is not a single-point-of-failure.
Security, compliance and improvement
- Help operationalise the controls behind Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001: device compliance, identity hygiene, joiner/mover/leaver, patch and vulnerability status, endpoint protection.
- Spot and close down workarounds and shadow IT and propose pragmatic improvements that make the secure path the easy path.
ERP — functional support
- Act as the in-house point of contact for ERP user and process issues, working alongside business super-users and our external ERP partner.
- Help to manage user accounts, roles and authorisations; support joiner/mover/leaver changes in line with our access-control standards.
- Triage and resolve functional issues across the modules we use; escalate technical/Basis issues to the SAP partner with clear, well-documented tickets.
Technical skills
- Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Entra ID / Azure AD (user management, conditional access, MFA, SSO)
- Intune — device enrolment, compliance policies, Windows/macOS management
- Basic networking and security fundamentals
- Cyber Essentials Plus / ISO 27001 awareness
- ERP systems (ideally SAP) — functional support and user administration
- ITSM / ticketing systems
- Asset management tools
Soft skills
- Good communicator — able to explain technical issues to non-technical people
- Organised and methodical, comfortable managing several tasks at once
- Confident writing documentation (runbooks, how-tos)
- Happy mentoring and supporting less experienced colleagues
- Problem solver who can work independently
