Post Office Counter Clerk
Location: Kirkby Post Office, L32 8RD
Pay: £12.50 per hour
Contract Type: Employed – Part-Time and Full-Time positions available

About the Role

Kirkby Post Office is looking for a reliable and experienced Post Office Counter Clerk to join our team. This is a public-facing position requiring excellent customer service, accuracy, and attention to detail. You’ll play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our local Post Office branch.

Key Responsibilities

Serve customers professionally at the counter.
Process parcels, letters, and other postal services.
Handle cash, card, and cheque transactions accurately.
Provide banking, bill payment, and related services.
Balance tills and complete end-of-day cash reconciliations.
Maintain a tidy and well-organised counter area.
Follow all Post Office security and compliance procedures.

Requirements

Prior Post Office counter experience preferred (knowledge of the Horizon system is an advantage).
Strong cash handling and customer service background essential.
Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
Able to work fixed hours including weekends.

Working Hours

Full-Time: Around 37.5 hours per week.
Part-Time: Around 20 hours per week.
Fixed weekly schedule including weekends (rota discussed at interview).
