You’ll join OCU’s Water division supporting the delivery of essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects across North Wales and the wider region. Working as part of the Regional SHEQ team, you’ll play a key role in driving a strong safety culture while ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly and to a consistently high standard.
This is an opportunity to be part of a growing and forward-thinking business, where you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of infrastructure projects while continuing to develop your SHEQ expertise within a supportive and fast-paced environment.
You’ll provide SHEQ support and guidance to operational teams across the region, helping to embed best practice and ensure health, safety, environmental and quality standards are consistently applied across all project activities. Working closely with operational management and site teams, you’ll support the development of safe systems of work and contribute to improving overall performance and compliance.
You’ll monitor SHEQ performance across projects by reviewing both leading and lagging indicators, identifying trends and supporting the implementation of corrective actions. A key part of your role will involve engaging with site teams, reinforcing best practice, and ensuring standards are clearly understood and maintained.
You’ll carry out site audits and inspections, support incident and accident investigations, and help ensure that lessons learned are captured and shared across the business. You’ll also actively promote a positive safety culture, confidently challenging unsafe behaviours and encouraging continuous improvement at all levels.
In addition, you’ll support the mobilisation of new projects, assisting with the development of risk assessments, method statements, SHE plans and Construction Phase Plans in line with CDM requirements. You’ll also contribute to communications, inductions and training initiatives to strengthen engagement and awareness across the workforce.
Essential:
- Experience within SHEQ or a background in utilities, construction or infrastructure environments
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Strong understanding of SHEQ principles, compliance frameworks and best practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive, professional approach
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel
Desirable:
- Experience within the water or wastewater sector
- IOSH or IEMA membership
- Experience supporting audits, investigations and SHEQ reporting
- Ability to analyse performance data and contribute to improvement initiatives
