Preparing statutory accounts in line with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and Companies House requirements
Producing year-end accounts and financial statements
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Handling corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns
Managing client bookkeeping (often using software like Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage)
Liaising directly with clients to gather financial information and provide advice
Supporting audits (if working in an audit-enabled firm)
Advising clients on tax efficiency and financial planning
Ensing compliance with UK accounting standards (e.g. FRS 102 / FRS 105)

Experience in a UK accountancy practice (typically 2–5+ years depending on level)
Strong knowledge of UK tax rules and financial reporting standards
Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Good communication skills for client interaction
High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
