The University of Bedfordshire is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Architectural Engineering to support the continued growth and transformation of its Engineering and Built Environment portfolio.
This is a strategically important role aligned with the launch of new programmes in Architecture and the wider Built Environment from September 2027, alongside the ongoing development of our engineering provision. The post sits at the intersection of architecture, engineering, construction technology and sustainability, and will play a key role in shaping a contemporary, industry-relevant curriculum aligned to the University’s Career-Powered Education approach.
You will contribute to teaching, curriculum development and student support across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in both the Built Environment and Engineering. In addition, you will be expected to engage in research and knowledge exchange activity, working collaboratively with industry partners to enhance the relevance and impact of our provision.
The School of Computing, Engineering and Creative Industries is undergoing a significant transformation, positioning itself at the forefront of practice-led education and applied research. Our approach is defined by:

The School is expanding its Built Environment portfolio in response to national skills shortages and growing student demand, particularly in architecture, construction, and sustainable infrastructure.
You will:
- Deliver high-quality teaching across Architectural Engineering and related disciplines
- Design and develop engaging, industry-relevant learning materials and assessments
- Contribute to curriculum development, particularly for new Architecture programmes
- Support students through teaching, supervision, and personal tutoring
- Engage in research, consultancy, or professional practice activity
- Contribute to knowledge exchange and employer engagement initiatives
- Participate in academic administration and quality assurance processes
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support integrated delivery
We are looking for candidates with expertise at the intersection of engineering and the built environment, who can contribute to both existing provision and new programme development.
Essential:
- A good honours degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Architectural Engineering, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar)
- A postgraduate qualification and/or PhD (or equivalent professional experience)
- Strong subject knowledge across built environment and engineering principles
- Experience of teaching or presenting complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Engagement in research, consultancy, or industry practice
- Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
- A commitment to high-quality teaching and student-centred learning
Desirable:
- Experience teaching in Higher Education
- Knowledge of curriculum development and quality assurance processes
- Professional body alignment (e.g. RIBA, CIOB, ICE, CIBSE)
- HEA Fellowship or willingness to obtain
