Overview
We are looking for a hard working, dedicated and passionate individual to work with our head gardner Dan at Merriments Gardens. Merriments Gardens is an RHS garden and we attract many visitors throughout the year. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those interested in horticulture, gardening, and landscape maintenance. The successful candidate will be involved in various outdoor projects, contributing to the upkeep and enhancement of green spaces.
Duties
- Assist with planting, pruning, weeding, and general garden care to promote healthy growth
- Support the installation and repair of garden features and structures
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of tools and work areas
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects within specified timeframes
- Monitor plant health and report any issues requiring specialised attention
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times during outdoor activities
Qualifications
- Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance is advantageous but not essential
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems is desirable
- A genuine interest in gardening and outdoor work
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks including digging, lifting, and manoeuvring equipment
