Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our compassionate team at St Peter's Court Nursing Home in Maldon, Essex. As an essential member of our team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for both our residents and staff.

· Experience of building maintenance, preferably in a care home environment

· Working knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH

· Experience completing risk assessments

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out regular inspections of equipment, systems, and the home’s exterior, identifying and addressing any potential issues.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing maintenance-related inquiries from staff and clients.
Building Upkeep: Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the exterior areas, including snow clearance, gritting, gardening, and regular upkeep of sheds and waste areas.
Fire Safety: Test and log results for the fire alarm system, and ensure all safety features such as fire exits and emergency lights are working.
Equipment Checks: Regularly test and maintain portable appliances and ventilation units, ensuring all light bulbs, diffusers, and electrical equipment are in optimal condition.
Repairs: Use the Maintenance Book to log any reported defects and carry out necessary repairs or replacements as required.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Home Manager to address defects, ensure timely repairs, and maintain high operational standards.

About You:

Proven experience in a maintenance role, preferably within a care home setting (at least 1 year).
Strong mechanical knowledge and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) to liaise with staff and residents effectively.
Compassionate, friendly, and customer-focused with a genuine care for others.
Ability to work independently, under pressure, and to a high standard.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail, with excellent timekeeping.
