Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pipe Layer / Groundworker to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying underground pipes and assisting with ground preparation tasks on various civil engineering projects. This role requires a practical approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a dynamic environment. Prior experience with excavation, mechanical, electrical, and welding tasks is highly desirable. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Lay underground pipes according to project specifications and safety standards
- Operate excavation equipment such as excavators to dig trenches and prepare ground surfaces
- Use hand tools and power tools for cutting, shaping, and installing pipes and related components
- Assist with site preparation, including levelling and compacting ground surfaces
- Perform welding tasks where necessary to join pipe sections or repair components
- Conduct basic electrical work related to site infrastructure as required
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all safety protocols are followed
- Assist with the installation of mechanical systems associated with piping infrastructure
- Support team members in completing projects efficiently and effectively
Experience
- Previous experience working as a Pipe Layer or Groundworker on civil or construction sites is preferred
- Proficiency in operating excavators and other heavy machinery such as lorries or loaders is advantageous
- Knowledge of welding techniques and the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment confidently
- Basic electrical knowledge relevant to site infrastructure is desirable
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations within construction environments
- Mechanical knowledge combined with practical experience in pipe installation or groundworks will be highly regarded
