As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Team.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will take commercial ownership of projects from estimating handover through to final account, working closely with operational teams to deliver successful projects and strong commercial outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Take full commercial ownership of projects from estimating handover through to agreement of the final account, ensuring effective cost control, risk management and commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the procurement and commercial management of subcontractor and supplier packages, securing best value and developing strong supply chain relationships.
- Manage subcontract accounts including valuations, variations, payments, contractual notices and final accounts.
- Produce accurate cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections to support project and business objectives.
- Identify, manage and report commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure contractual compliance and effective administration of all commercial obligations in accordance with contract requirements and relevant legislation.
- Attend and contribute to design team meetings, pre-start meetings, progress meetings and internal commercial reviews.
- Provide commercial guidance and support to project teams and senior management.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
- Mentor and support Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors, contributing to their professional development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial systems, procedures and best practice across the business.
Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for a principal contractor.
- A proven track record of successfully delivering construction projects valued between £750k and £15m.
- Experience within the education, healthcare, commercial, heritage and refurbishment sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen with a focus on cost control, value recovery, risk management and cash flow management.
- Sound knowledge of subcontract procurement, contract administration and commercial management principles.
- Good working knowledge of JCT forms of contract and construction legislation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline (preferred).
- A proactive and professional approach with the ambition to develop both personally and those around them.
Pay: £50,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
