Job Overview
The Welding Labourer provides general support to the welding and fabrication department, ensuring work areas are clean, organized, and supplied with the materials required for efficient production. The role involves assisting welders and fabricators with preparation, housekeeping, material handling, and basic workshop duties while maintaining high standards of health and safety. This role may be required to assist within other departments from time to time to meet business needs.
Duties
- Support welders and fabricators with day-to-day workshop activities.
- Open, unpack, and organize incoming materials, components, and consumables.
- Prepare materials and components for welding operations as instructed.
- Washing parts for welders
- Remove scrap materials, waste, and offcuts from work areas.
- Collect, sort, and dispose of waste in accordance with company procedures.
- Transport materials, parts, and finished products throughout the workshop using appropriate equipment.
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
- Organise and maintain stock levels of welding consumables and workshop supplies.
- Clean and prepare finished products
- Support basic grinding, deburring, and cleaning tasks when required and appropriately trained.
- Report damaged equipment, shortages, or safety concerns to supervisors.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, or workshop environment is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to carry out manual handling tasks safely.
- Good attention to detail and housekeeping standards.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience
- Familiarity with welding techniques is advantageous.
- Practical knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication processes is desirable
- Experience within a manufacturing environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
