Seamstress / Tailor – Alterations Specialist
We are a busy and well-established alterations shop dedicated to delivering high-quality tailoring and garment alterations for our valued clients. We pride ourselves on precision, craftsmanship, and excellent customer service, working with a wide range of garments from everyday wear to occasion and formal pieces.
We are currently seeking an experienced, reliable, and skilled Seamstress / Tailor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in garment alterations, exceptional attention to detail, and confidence working with a variety of fabrics and garment types.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out clothing alterations and repairs to a high standard, including hemming, resizing, restyling, and repairs
- Work on a variety of garments such as dresses, suits, trousers, coats, bridalwear, and occasionwear
- Perform both hand stitching and machine sewing with precision
- Conduct fittings with customers when required and ensure garments meet client expectations
- Provide advice to customers on alterations and fit improvements
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workspace
- Ensure all work is completed within agreed timeframes
- Handle garments with care and maintain professionalism at all times
Requirements
- Based in the UK
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and finishing techniques
- Ability to work with a wide range of fabrics including delicate and structured materials
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
