About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as Apprentice Finance and Accounting Technician within the world-leading Mathematical Institute. You will gain skills and experience both in the workplace, and through the completion of a course of study. Appropriate objectives will be set during the course of the Apprenticeship. This is a general Finance role, which means that you will have the opportunity to learn how to complete a wide range of Finance administration.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to get involved with a variety of finance duties that will help develop your finance knowledge, including processing of transactions (accounts payable and receivable), assisting with month end tasks (running reports and processing journals), and general finance administration. You will join our busy and supportive Finance team, which comprises the Finance Manager, Deputy Finance Manager, Senior Finance Officer, Two Finance Officers and two Finance Assistants.
About the apprenticeship
You will complete a two-year training programme that will cover all aspects of the role and will be delivered through in-house training, as well as day-release or other distance learning methods delivered by Abingdon and Witney College. As part of this role, you will undertake a Level 2 Accounts and Finance Assistant Intermediate Apprenticeship with Abingdon and Witney College.
The apprenticeship will be delivered through in-house training, as well as day-release or other distance learning methods as supported by Abingdon and Witney College. There may be an option to extend the apprenticeship a further year, enabling the completion of the next level of the AAT qualification. College attendance and successful completion of these studies is an essential requirement of this Apprenticeship.
About you
You will be enthusiastic about starting a career in Finance and excited by the opportunity to join the Finance team at the Mathematical Institute as an apprentice. Whether you are beginning your career or looking for a new direction, you will be motivated to learn, develop new skills, and work towards the AAT qualification.
You will have good communication, organisational, and time management skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately. You will enjoy working as part of a team, be willing to learn from others, and be confident using Microsoft Office applications while developing new IT skills.
To be eligible, you will normally have achieved GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent). You will also be able to demonstrate an interest in Finance and an aptitude for the apprenticeship through your studies, work experience, voluntary activities, or other relevant experience.
As part of the recruitment process, the apprenticeship training provider may ask you to complete an initial assessment to determine your suitability for the programme.
