Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Vehicle Technician/Workshop Manager to oversee daily workshop operations and ensure the highest standards of vehicle maintenance and repair. The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, leadership abilities, and proficiency with hand and power tools. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead a dedicated team while maintaining technical excellence within a busy automotive workshop environment.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate workshop activities, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and perform repairs on a variety of motor vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
- Utilise hand tools and power tools to carry out maintenance tasks accurately and safely
- Manage scheduling of repairs, liaising with customers regarding vehicle status and estimated completion times
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used, and service history for each vehicle
- Ensure the workshop complies with health and safety regulations at all times
- Mentor and support workshop staff to develop their technical skills and improve overall team performance
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering parts and tools as needed
- MOT centre manager
Experience
- Proven experience as a Motor Vehicle Technician or similar role within an automotive workshop environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge across a wide range of vehicle systems
- Demonstrable proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in vehicle repair and maintenance
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity is preferred but not essential for highly skilled technicians aspiring to lead
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills to liaise confidently with team members and customers
- Existing MOT tester or willingness to be trained accordingly
