About this Role

This is a great opportunity to join our fantastic Science team as teacher, ideally with a specialism in chemistry, to cover a period of maternity leave. The Science department is well resourced, teaches engaging lessons, has a focus on quality modelling of tasks, and a strong culture of revision. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach A-Level, if appropriate. Our school motto is “think for yourself; act for others”; these are not just empty words, and are an essential part of the way Cheney runs.
The successful applicant will be appointed for 7 months, commencing in September 2026, until April 2027. Dependent on staffing requirements, this post may be extended or made permanent.
What skills and experience are required
You need to have good subject knowledge, like children and want to work in a genuinely diverse community. This requires enthusiasm, compassion and patience; a true comprehensive school is the most rewarding place to work, but can also be a challenge.
