Peoples Ford, Falkirk is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Vehicle Parts Advisor Modern Apprentice.
This Modern Apprenticeship offers a structured pathway into the automotive industry, combining paid employment with Scottish nationally recognised qualifications, enabling you to develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed as a vehicle parts advisor.
Working alongside experienced professionals, you will gain hands-on experience in parts identification, stock control, and customer service, providing a strong foundation for a long-term career in automotive supply chain and parts operations.
- Identify and source automotive parts using electronic catalogues, manuals, and computer systems
- Support customers in person, by telephone, and via email with parts enquiries and orders
- Work closely with service technicians and workshop staff to ensure accurate parts ordering and timely supply
- Receive, check, and organise parts deliveries, ensuring accuracy and quality standards are maintained
- Monitor stock levels, assist with stock checks, and support replenishment activities
- Use point-of-sale systems to process transactions, raise invoices, and update customer records
- Provide product information, pricing, and basic technical guidance to customers
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and in line with company procedures
- Follow all processes relating to parts sales, returns, and warranty procedures
- Attend all required training and assessments to build product knowledge, customer service skills, and industry awareness
- 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday
- Normal working hours are usually 8:30am – 5:30pm, depending on dealership requirements
- Off-the-job training is delivered as part of the Modern Apprenticeship through a combination of:
- Online learning
- Face-to-face training
- Block release where required
- Apprentices are employed directly by the Ford dealership
- Training may include block release, which could involve travel and overnight stays
- Learning is supported through:
- Practical workplace training
- Classroom and virtual learning
- Ongoing coaching and mentoring
- Training is aligned to SQA / IMI standards, ensuring industry-recognised qualifications and job-ready skills
- Modern Apprenticeship in Supply Chain / Warehousing or Automotive Parts
- SCQF Level 5–6 (framework dependent)
- Typical duration: 12–18 months
- Includes SVQ, core skills (if required), and work-based evidence
- Successful completion provides nationally recognised Scottish qualifications and progression opportunities within the automotive sector
- Apprentices will be paid in line with Scottish Modern Apprenticeship rates, set by the employing dealership
- Opportunities for pay progression as skills and experience develop
- Aged 16+
- National 4 / National 5 (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Predicted grades are accepted, provided the final results meet the required standards)
- Strong interest in vehicle parts, stock control, and supply chain operations
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and follow workplace procedures
- Basic IT skills
- Working towards or holding a valid driving licence is desirable
