Eyre & Elliston Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Trainee to join our Northallerton branch.
This role is designed to provide full, hands-on training across all key areas of electrical wholesaling, including warehouse operations, goods inwards and outwards, trade counter sales, customer service, quotations, order processing, stock control and supplier ordering.
The position would suit someone who is looking to begin or develop a long-term career within the electrical wholesale industry. For the right candidate, this role offers a clear development path with the potential to progress into a future management position.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a positive “can do” attitude, a willingness to learn, strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small branch team.
Who We Are
Established in 1934, Eyre & Elliston is a long-standing independent electrical wholesaler with a nationwide branch network and over 90 years’ experience in the electrical wholesale sector.
We supply a wide range of electrical products to trade, commercial, industrial and public-sector customers, supported by knowledgeable staff, strong local stockholding and reliable customer service.
The Role
Key duties will include:
- Processing customer enquiries, quotations and sales orders
- Working closely with a large and varied customer base
- Ensuring customer orders are completed accurately and efficiently
- Picking and preparing customer orders from the warehouse
- Booking in deliveries and putting goods away
- Keeping the warehouse, trade counter and branch areas clean and organised
- Assisting customers on the trade counter
- Supporting the branch team in reaching sales targets
- Helping to manage stock levels and ordering stock from suppliers
- Learning about electrical products, applications and customer requirements
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00am to 5:00pm
- No weekend hours normally required

- A good communicator with a professional approach
- Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills
- Confident speaking to customers in person and over the phone
- Organised, accurate and able to follow processes
- Interested in building a long-term career in electrical wholesaling
- Have a full, clean driving licence
Previous experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.
