Are you a HCPC registered AHP with significant experience of educating learners on clinical placement and supporting newly qualified AHPs into the workplace? We are looking for a highly motivated HCPC registered professional to join our Continued Professional Development and Placement Team under AHP Professional Leadership.
This role will lead the delivery of our new Midlands AHP Preceptorship Programme and apprenticeship portfolio. You will need to lead with compassion and be able to demonstrate your skills across all four pillars of advanced practice. The focus of this role will be within the education and leadership pillar. You will need to be highly organised, used to working within a team, collaborating with multiple teams and partners and be self motivated.
To lead in the area of AHP apprenticeships and Preceptorship ensuring that AHP apprentices, preceptees and preceptors have a positive experience which supports their learning in practice delivered in line with the Safe Learning and Education Charter (SLEC).
The role will ensure that the Trusts placement capacity is matched to the demand of AHP apprentices which are needed to ensure a supply of high-quality staff in different roles to deliver the highest quality care for our patients. The role will manage and deliver a quality AHP Preceptorship Programme for all AHP preceptees and preceptors in the Trust working with key partners as required.
The post holder will support the operational management of the AHP Clinical Placement Team supported by the AHP Professional Lead for Workforce.

To deliver a high-quality allied health professions (AHP) preceptorship and apprenticeship programme that is fit for purpose for all AHP professions in line with the NHS Workforce Plan, HCPC Principles of Preceptorship, AHP Preceptorship Standards and Framework working in collaboration with senior colleagues in the Trust supported by the AHP Professional Lead for Workforce.
Have an excellent and high specialist working knowledge of apprenticeship standards and the rules that govern the funding and delivery of apprenticeships. Work closely with HEIs and other education providers to facilitate changes in pre and post-registration education programmes/apprenticeships that support the Trust’s strategy requirements and the needs of the workforce.
Lead on internal and external advertising and recruitment strategies for AHP apprenticeships within the Trust in co-production with selected training providers/HEIs and in close collaboration with AHP Professional Leads, Care Groups, and ICS colleagues where appropriate.
Lead on career development conversations with aspiring apprentices and their managers and mentors, utilising coaching skills to facilitate appropriate career pathways that are a ‘best fit’ for the individual and service whilst managing expectations of the commitment to the programmes from the apprentice and service.
Provide support to aspiring apprentices and managers to navigate the apprenticeship application process, ensuring staff and team readiness for undertaking an AHP apprenticeship. Demonstrating a commitment to the ‘widening participation’ agenda, facilitate learning opportunities for aspiring apprentices e.g. training and education schemes such as functional skills level 2 obtainment and bridging courses.
Work closely with Equality Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging services within the Trust and externally to optimise opportunities to ensure inclusivity.
To work in partnership with HEIs to ensure that pre-registration apprenticeship AHPs are appropriately placed within the organisation or healthcare system by providing effective and compassionate leadership to the AHP Clinical Placement Team, partner clinical placement teams and leads, and clinical teams across the Trust.
Working with the AHP Clinical Placement Team ensure clinical educational audits are in place for each clinical area.
In collaboration with the AHP Professional Lead for Workforce and Professional Leads to identify potential opportunities for graduating AHP apprentices within the organisation.
To operate processes and performance in relation to:
AHP Apprenticeship database monitoring and compliance both internal and external such as PARE (Practice Assessment Record and Evaluation – online system, Pebble Pad)
AHP element of the Learning and Development Agreement (LDA), Skills Scans, Apprenticeship Contracts and monitor commissioned apprenticeship places as appropriate
AHP Preceptorship Programme and its delivery.
To ensure compliance with the CQC and OFSTED outcomes in education and training provided for AHP clinical staff undertaking apprenticeships.
Manage and input data to support the delivery of the AHP staffing report in partnership with the AHP Professional Lead for Workforce.
To support the Trust education governance requirements attending and participating in relevant meetings and development and monitoring of appropriate policy and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Participate in and support the co-ordination of external reviews/inspections in relation to education and practice focusing on apprenticeship delivery and supporting the AHP Clinical Placement Expansion Leads when needed in this area.
Ensure that the quality of AHP preceptorship, apprenticeship and clinical placement education, training and development is monitored and feedback from learners, HEIs and other mechanisms is acted upon, working with AHP Clinical Leads, professional leads, Professional Lead for Workforce and relevant others to address any areas for improvement.
Develop and maintain own competence in appropriate/specific clinical skills/ professional knowledge and competence in accordance with the relevant Professional Body and HCPC Standards including supporting AHP Clinical Placements.

To develop effective and evidence-based processes that support the delivery of a quality AHP preceptorship programme, clinical and apprenticeship placements across the AHP workforce in line with the AHP Preceptorship Standards and Framework, HCPC Principles of Preceptorship and Safe Education and Learning Charter.
To support the management of poor performance and or conduct of AHPs providing support to apprentices and other learners, in the event of poor learner feedback, alongside operational colleagues.
