We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Multi-Skilled Labourer to support our experienced handyman with a variety of repair, finishing, and make-good works following larger installation projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn valuable trade skills and progress into a more senior position in the future.
Job Overview
As a Multi-Skilled Labourer, you will work alongside our experienced handyman, assisting with a wide range of tasks to restore properties to a high standard following heating and insulation installations.
This is a hands-on role that will involve travelling daily to sites across Newcastle to the South Midlands. You will be required to drive to the handyman's home each morning in Widness, where you will then travel together in the company van to the day's work locations.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic who is keen to learn and develop practical skills. Over time, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility and progress into carrying out work independently, with corresponding increases in pay based on competence and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the handyman with general repairs and finishing works following heating and insulation installations.
- Help with patch plastering, painting, decorating, and basic carpentry tasks.
- Assist with making good walls, ceilings, and floors.
- Support with the repair and replacement of skirting boards, architraves, and trim work.
- Assist with drilling core holes for extractor fans in kitchens and bathrooms.
- Help with loft insulation works, including clearing loft spaces, installing insulation, and returning stored items neatly.
- Load and unload tools and materials.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
- Ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Provide excellent customer service when working in occupied homes.
- Adhere to company procedures and health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Reliable and punctual, with the ability to travel daily.
- Must be able to drive to the handyman's home each morning to travel to site in the company van.
- Comfortable with regular travel across Newcastle to the South Midlands.
- Previous experience in construction, labouring, or property maintenance is desirable but not essential.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual work.
- CSCS card desirable but not essential.
Career Progression
This role is designed as a development opportunity. Successful candidates will receive on-the-job training from an experienced handyman and will gradually learn skills such as:

- Loft insulation installation
