Are you an OT working in a generic mental health role? Would you be interested in an opportunity to work in an OT specific role alongside a band 5 OT? Perhaps you are an OT looking for a new challenge? Suffolk Rehabilitation and Recovery Service is a small inpatient service that provides rehabilitation for people with complex psychosis. There is opportunity to train in the VdT Model of Creative Ability because here at SRRS we recognise the value of this model and how it informs our work.
As a 10 bedded unit you would have a small caseload. There is opportunity to work 1-1 and to run groups. If you like roles where you get to work alongside people in their recovery, this post offers the opportunity to work with people for around 6 months.
The Suffolk community rehabilitation team is based in the same building and also uses the VdT MoCA to inform intervention so there is opportunity to work closely with other OTs onsite.
We are looking for someone passionate about OT. Someone who has a vision for what OT can offer in a mental health rehabilitation setting.
As Occupational Therapist you will be responsible for:
Assessment of Activities of Daily Living
Leading implementation of VdT Model Of Creative Ability (training is available)
Report writing
Occupational Formulation
Planning and carrying out interventions
Contributing to care planning and risk assessment
Oversee the process and implementation of service user meal preparation
Group facilitation
Promoting recovery approach within the wider MDT
Support discharge planning, working with community teams
Provide outreach visits where indicated as part of the discharge process
Helping to oversee the ward timetable and also taking a lead in creating individual weekly planners based on level of functioning and goals.
Attending reviews and professionals meetings
Establishing and maintaining links with community services
Supervision of band 5 OT
