As a Residential Support Worker, you will help provide a safe, structured and nurturing home environment where children are supported to build trust, develop confidence, attend education, engage in positive routines and achieve better outcomes.
You will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality care in line with each child’s care plan, placement plan, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, home policies and the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide day-to-day care, supervision and emotional support to children and young people living in the home.
You will support children with daily routines, including waking up, bedtime routines, meals, personal care where appropriate, education attendance, appointments, hobbies, contact arrangements and leisure activities.
You will build positive, professional and boundaried relationships with children, using a calm, consistent and trauma-informed approach.
You will follow individual care plans, placement plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments, ensuring children receive support that is safe, personalised and consistent.
You will promote positive behaviour, de-escalate challenging situations where needed and respond appropriately to incidents in line with company policies and safeguarding procedures.
You will encourage children to develop independence, life skills, self-esteem, social skills and healthy routines.
You will support children to attend school, college, appointments, activities and community-based opportunities.
You will complete accurate daily records, incident reports, key-work notes, handover records and other written documentation to a professional standard.
You will work closely with colleagues, managers, families, social workers, education professionals, health professionals and other external agencies where required.
You will contribute to a safe, clean and homely environment, including helping with household tasks, meal preparation and general routines within the home.
You will attend staff meetings, supervision, training and development sessions as required.
You will always follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately.
