Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering excellent customer service, assisting with food and beverage preparation, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere within our café. Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or restaurant environments is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food safety, barista services, and food presentation while working in a vibrant and dynamic setting.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers warmly and take their orders accurately
- Serve food and beverages in a courteous and timely manner
- Assist with food preparation, including basic cooking and presentation tasks
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, and kitchen surfaces
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Restock supplies as needed, including utensils, ingredients, and beverages
- Handle cash register operations and process payments efficiently
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth service flow
Skills
- Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality environments is desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Barista experience is a plus but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Organised with good time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities during busy periods
- A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service
