Full job description

Confident and mature Art Tutor wanted to teach adult students in Gravesham, part-time on a freelance contract.

Opportunity for an experienced, mature and friendly tutor.

Easy to follow curricula.
Day: Tuesday classes (max 22 students) are 10:00-1:00 and 2:00-5:00. Therefore, hours are 9:00-5:30 (8.5 hrs). Wednesday class (max 22 students) will be 10:00-1:00 only, so working day will be 9:00-1:30 (4.5 hrs) so billed as half-day.
Location: Cambridge and County Bowling Club
Dates: Starting for the Autumn term, September
Rate of Pay: £125 per day depending on experience

We are looking for a wonderful part-time Art Tutor, throughout the year, for our 14-week courses, which we run on an ongoing basis.

Our courses are for adult students who are at beginner and improver level, and they consist of four modules: Drawing, Oil pastels, Watercolours and Acrylics.

You must have good experience in teaching or tutoring adult students for this role. A friendly demeanour and ability to confidently demonstrate good artwork in pencil, oil pastels, watercolours and acrylic paint are essential. An up-to-date DBS is mandatory.

Also;

Prepare lesson in week leading up to class (content will be emailed to tutor)
Physically fit enough to help with set up, reset and close.
OrganisedHardworking, with drive and energy
Friendly and engaging
Ability to identify with/be empathetic towards the over-50 demographic
Confident artist and outgoing teacher
Loyal and professional (especially if teaching something they would rather not - everyone has an opinion!)
Prepared to be with us mid-long term

Job Requirements:

About you:

You've worked in similar roles before and have strong experience in tutoring art to groups or individuals.
You are capable of producing good artwork in pencil, pastel, watercolour and acrylic paint and feel comfortable demonstrating your skills to groups of up to 20 people.
You are friendly and approachable, and have great communication skills which you use to build strong relationships with your students.
You're able to think on your feet and respond honestly to the demands of the students.

Job Responsibilities:

About the job:

You'll engage with our adult learners, building rapport to create a fun, nurturing and welcoming environment.
Show students how to use different mediums and techniques and demonstrate how to create drawings and paintings.
Provide one-to-one support and answer questions in class.
Support learners in classes of 3 hour sessions.
