Full job description

As an Engineering Shift Supervisor based at our Lewes Road depot, you will oversee a team of experienced engineers working a rotating 7/3 – 7/4 shift pattern, covering both early and late shifts. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong leadership abilities who can perform effectively under pressure and ensure smooth day-to-day depot operations.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Supervise engineering staff on shift, ensuring safety standards, performance expectations, and company procedures are consistently met
Ensure all planned maintenance schedules, inspections, and quality checks are completed to a high standard
Support vehicle availability targets while helping to minimise unnecessary mileage
Manage and complete all shift documentation, including defect reports, inspection records, 24-hour sheets, and audit paperwork to maintain full compliance
Maintain clear and effective communication across departments, including liaising with contractors, breakdown services, and internal teams via phone
Take responsibility for site security and the health & safety of all staff on duty
Provide hands-on support by assisting with engineering duties when required
Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations, including Health & Safety and Data Protection
Carry out vehicle inspections and repairs where necessary
Attend roadside breakdowns when required

Requirements:

Full manual car driving licence (PCV licence and IRTEC accreditation are advantageous)
Previous industry experience, ideally supported by an NVQ Level 3 qualification
Confident using Microsoft Office applications
A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn, develop, and undertake further training provided

Pay: £29.26 per hour

Work Location: In person
